Downtown Flashback with Monica and Russell

Alright people! After a long time coming and finally getting a website together I’m going full force with a blog so you can follow along with my shoots, experiences and awesome folks I’m meeting along the way. I chose to back date some of my favorite shoots because I never got to share and write about them. Let me tell ya, working a full time job as a medical assistant, training four times a week and add shooting on top of all of that my life is FULL. FULL in a good way. But also in a busy way. When I don’t have something planned for the week or weekend I look forward to it…and then shortly after fill it with plans and shoots. It’s just how I run. Speaking of running I’m running off Providence Bagel cold brew right now which tends to pump me up so this should be fun. I never thought I’d have a blog because I’m not really a overly literate person so to say but I’m just going to run with it and maybe if I’m lucky a few people will enjoy it.

I’ve known Monica and Russell for about 2 or 3 years now. I met Monica and Russell when I joined crossfit on a whim and discovered they were living right around the corner from me in Stoughton at that time. They’re one of the best things I took from cross fit besides realizing it’s okay if you hate cardio and finding my love for weightlifting… ;) Monica is a type of friend to me that we don’t see each other often but when we click we CLICK, I feed off energy and this girl is a ray of positive energy coming your way, she doesn’t even have to speak and you can feel it. I remember seeing Monica for the first time when she had her fro of curly hair on top of her head doing handstands with her quads flying in the air like this is an alpha woman right here. And then meeting Russell who is immediately so genuine it made total sense to me to see them together as a couple. Besides their great energy these guys have such a unique sense of style and love for one another I had to shoot them together. Monica is a graphic designer and Russell works at a Pawn shop and always has a bad ass pocket watch attached to his attire. Mind you I already had done about 3 portrait sessions with Monica probably starting a few months after we met because you know I have no chill and I force my friends to do these things with me.

Growing up in the small town of Lakeville where I mostly shot in nature (if you know Lakeville you know lakes, ponds, farms all that jazz I blame this town for my inability to parallel park) living in Providence feels like being in a playground to me with my camera. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about being and shooting in the woods and greenery but shooting in the city has such a vibe that I had never felt for before and was out of my comfort zone and just walking around and discovering areas together was a time itself.

After hours full of laughing and bopping around the city we wrapped it up with a stop at Tom's BaoBao for the goods…Monica and Russell were suppose to go to their friends Yoga class after this..I think they made it. Honestly impressed I couldn’t downward dog with one of these bad boys in my stomach.
